Weekly Review of the Slovene Economy from 16 to 22 June

Ljubljana, 24 June - The week began with the 7th annual conference of the European Commission directorate general and the competition and state aids institutions from 13 EU candidate countries in Ljubljana. As part of the conference Slovenia was visited by European Commissioner for Competition Mario Monti, who said that work remains to be done in the field of state aids. Also visiting Slovenia as part of the conference was chief EU negotiator with Slovenia Jaime Garcia Lombardero, who said that Slovenia should increase the inflow of foreign investments. Among notable news this week was also a drop in the benchmark index on the Ljubljana Stock Exchange.
