Ljubljana, 10 July - The illusion of tough yet just negotiations lasted only until the first chapters that are tricky either for EU members or candidates came under discussion. That was when candidate countries realised that they would by no means become equal members once they join the Union. It has become evident that, at least in the first few years, newcomers will not receive direct payments to farmers, they will have restricted access to the labour market in some places, and similar restrictions can surely be expected in other areas. Furthermore, if they chance to head to the EU with a (too) high per capita GDP, which is especially true of Cyprus and Slovenia, they can also forget about aid for underdeveloped regions, the daily Delo writes on Tuesday.
