Dnevnik: The Right Moment

Ljubljana, 11 July - The move to raise the excise duty on petrol without running the risk of facing a negative public opinion and higher inflation was well-timed. The government urgently needs additional funds in the budget, and SIT 450 million (2 million euros) a month from excise duties will come in handy, the Slovene daily Dnevnik on Wednesday comments on the government's move on Tuesday in which excise duties on petrol were raised, resulting in practically no changes in petrol prices despite anticipated drops.
