Takeovers Will Continue, Head of Retailer Mercator Tells a Business Weekly

Ljubljana, 12 July - Rapid growth is one of the major features of Slovenia's largest retailer, Mercator, something that has been achieved two years earlier than anticipated, chairman of the board Zoran Jankovic said in an interview for the business weekly Gospodarski vestnik. If we had followed the plans, we would achieve last year's results only in 2002, said Jankovic, who believes that this resulted from uniform action within the group, mutual trust among employees and lower operating costs, while incorporation of acquired companies also brought in lower costs.
