Friuli Venezia Giulia Does Not Intend to Finance Slovene Minority Organisations

Head of the provincial government of Italy's Friuli Venezia Giulia, Renzo Tondo, proposed that the Provincial Council should pass a budget amendment by which the Slovene minority organisations would receive at least part of the resources anticipated in the umbrella minority protection act, passed in February. However, the centre-right majority rejected the proposal, Tondo said on Wednesday when he received heads of both umbrella organisations of the Slovene minority in Italy, Rudi Pavsic of the Slovene Cultural and Economic Association (SKGZ) and Sergij Pahor of the Council of Slovene Organisations (SSO).
