European Parliament: Compliments and Criticism for Slovenia's EU-Related Progress
Brussels, 5 September - Aside from commending Slovenia's progress in EU accession, the European Parliament (EP) has appealed to Slovenia to boost denationalisation, privatisation of banks, competition and foreign investment. In a resolution on Slovenia's preparations for EU membership, the parliament, following an initiative given by Austria's MEP Hubert Pirker, also called upon Slovenia to prevent monopoly in distribution of printed media. The resolution was adopted on Wednesday after yesterday's presentations of EU candidates' progress in Strasbourg.
