Antitrust Office Starts Proceedings Against Trade Chains Mercator and Spar
Ljubljana, 14 September - The Slovene Antitrust Office started proceedings against two leading Slovene trade chains, Mercator and Spar Slovenia - a subsidiary of Dutch Interspar - due to presumed breaches of competition regulations. The two retailers have reached an agreement to jointly purchase goods from suppliers on the Slovene market, a move which could represent an exceeding level of "concentration" and thus pose a joint dictate against producers, said the Antitrust Office.
