Media Should Better Inform Public of Acts of Violence Against Women

Ljubljana, 17 September - Acts of violence against women are a social problem which represents the basic form of social control over women, the Society for Non-violent Communication, the Society SOS Phone for women and children - victims of violence, and the Advisors for Women Society agreed at last week's press conference aimed at presenting their views on this problem in Slovenia. Special attention was given to the role played by the media in informing and educating the public about acts of violence against women, in addition to the joint action of governmental and non-governmental organisations in dealing with this problem.
