Further Trouble for Largest Slovene Bank on the Horizon

Ljubljana, 18 September - Following recent questions over operations of the LBS bank - the U.S. subsidiary of the largest Slovene bank, the Nova Ljubljanska banka (NLB) - information suggesting dubious operations of another NLB subsidiary, the Frankfurt-based LHB Internacionale Handelsbank, was published by Slovene daily Delo on Tuesday. According to the paper, LHB is missing some 200 million D-marks, while the effects this will have on the NLB, a 49-percent owner of this subsidiary, are still unclear.
