Government Balances the 2002 Budget
Brdo pri Kranju, 22 September - The government balanced the 2002 budget at a session which was resumed on Saturday afternoon after dragging late into Friday evening. The budget draft foresees expenditures at SIT 1341.7 billion (6.1 billion euros) next year with receipts being much lower, as the government decided to drop the custom of prolonging the budget year. This means that the receipts of January 2003 will not be added to the 2002 receipts, so that next year will see only eleven months of receipts, Finance Minister Anton Rop explained to the press. The government session continues in the evening with 2003 budget draft left on the table.
