Slovene Octet Celebrates 50 Years of Existence
Ljubljana, 27 September - Fifty years ago to date a group of signers gathered into the Slovene Octet in a bid to use culture and choir singing in particular to strengthen the ties among Slovenes living abroad and their home country. The initiative was raised by the Slovenska izseljenska matica, a non-political organisation that promotes such co-operation, and the then Culture Ministry.
