Drnovsek Announces to Run for President in an Interview for Delo

Ljubljana, 6 October - "I have been thinking about rounding up my current term as Prime Minister by spring next year and then prepare a normal, balanced transition," Prime Minister Janez Drnovsek said in an interview for the Slovene daily Delo, published on Saturday. Asked whether he would run for president at next years' election, Drnovsek said "very likely", provided his health is okay. While he is convinced that his party, the Liberal Democrats (LDS), would not disintegrate after his leave, he did not reveal whom he would like to see as his successor on top of the LDS.
