World Cup Qualifying: Slovenia to Play Romania in Playoff

Ljubljana, 6 October - Following Slovenia's 3:0 defeat of the Faroe Islands in Saturday's World Cup qualifier in Ljubljana, Slovene football fans focussed their attention on the decisive Group 8 matches that would decide which team Slovenia would face in the two-leg playoff for a spot in the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea. Georgia's surprising 1:1 draw with Romania answered that question - it will be Slovenia against Romania; the first match on November 10 in Ljubljana and the return match four days later in Bucharest.
