Minister Gantar not Interested in Succeeding Prime Minister Drnovsek

Ljubljana, 13 October - Following last week's statement by Prime Minister Janez Drnovsek about his potential candidacy for President of the Republic and withdrawal from incumbent positions, the public has been overwhelmed by guesses of his successors. The most often mentioned are the incumbent Ministers of Finances, European Affairs and Information Society, Anton Rop, Igor Bavcar and Pavel Gantar. However, the latter told an interview for Saturday's daily Dnevnik he was not interested in the positions of Prime Minister or president of the Liberal Democracy of Slovenia (LDS).
