Police Deny All Allegations Concerning Arrest of Delo Columnist

Ljubljana, 23 October - The arrest of Vlado Miheljak, a professor of the Ljubljana Faculty of Social Sciences and a writer of political columns for the daily Delo, and three other persons, which took place shortly before midnight on Monday near the U.S. Embassy in Ljubljana, provoked cries of outrage from the Slovene Journalist's Association and the weekly Mladina. However, the police claim the arrest procedure was carried out correctly and deny all allegations of incorrect handling.
