Slovene Minority Calls on Italian President and PM to Provide Bilingual Census Forms

Umbrella organisations of the Slovene minority living in Italy addressed a letter to Italian President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi and Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi on Tuesday, drawing attention to the fact that the Italian national statistical institute ISTAT severely violated the basic rights of the Slovene minority by sending it census forms only in Italian. The minority called upon the two officials to see to it that adequate bilingual forms are provided for the minority.
