Slovenes Still to Vienna for New Lungs
Ljubljana, 6 January - Since the first transplant of a live donor kidney in Slovenia in 1970, 527 transplants and 148 bone marrow transplants have been carried out in Slovenia, of which 57 transplantations and 29 bone marrow transplantations were carried out in 2001. Slovene surgeons have transplanted kidneys, hearts, livers and bone marrow, while lung transplants for Slovene patients are still carried out in Austria's Vienna.
