Slovene Constitution Faces Nine Packages of Proposed Amendments

Ljubljana, 7 January - The Slovene Constitution, which celebrated its tenth anniversary on 23 December 2001, has so far been amended on two occasions, namely to allow foreigners to purchase property in Slovenia and change the voting system. Now the recently set up parliamentary commission for constitutional change will have to look into nine packages of proposed changes which were brought forward until 31 December 2001 by groups of legislators spanning the entire political spectrum.
