Prescription Violations Cost the Health Insurance Institute EUR 385,000, Shows a Probe

Ljubljana, 12 March - Special supervision in six Slovene hospitals has shown that the abuse in the prescription of the drug erythropoietin has caused damages of SIT 86.1 million (EUR 384,843) to the Slovene Health Insurance Institute last year. The probe was launched after the the Health Ministry suspected possible wrongdoing as a 75-percent sales growth was detected with erythropoietin last year.
