Janez Janša, defense minister of Republic Slovenia and president of Social-Democratic Party of Slovenia, was born in 1958. He obtained masters degree at Faculty for sociology, journalism and political science of Ljubljana University in 1982, specializing in defense and military studies. After the 1990 first multiparty elections in Slovenia, Janša was elected into parliament and became defense minister in the republicain government. He has remained in this office since, also following the latest December 92 parliamentary elections.
