If the State Functions There Aren't So Many Violations, Says Slovene Ombudsman
Ljubljana, 1 April - "I'm generally satisfied with an improvement in the reputation of the institution of ombudsman," Slovene Ombudsman Matjaz Hanzek has commented his first year in office. After having been elected to the post with an overwhelming majority in parliament in February 2001, Hanzek announced his plan to boost the ombudsman's reputation and, more importantly, to "protect citizens against their own state".
