Slovenia Should Join both the EU and NATO, Says Foreign Affairs Commentator
Ljubljana, 10 April - Slovenia's bid to join NATO and reasons for the decision to pursue NATO membership were in the focus of a debate entitled Who Can Say "No" to NATO? which was organised by the Peace Institute and the SKUC club on Tuesday evening. Participants of the debate, which was moderated by TV Slovenija reporter Ksenija Horvat, were the daily Delo's foreign affairs commentator Sasa Vidmajer and Brussels-based correspondent of The Irish Times Denis Staunton. While Staunton thought that Ireland would never join the Alliance, Vidmajer said it would be wrong for Slovenia to stay out of either NATO or the EU.
