Despite Progress, Slovenia Still Has Some Issues to Solve, Points out EU Association Council
Luxembourg, 15 April - Slovenia's preparations for EU membership were positively assessed at the fourth session of the EU Association Council on Monday, however the EU addressed some old remarks to the Slovene government. Slovenia was told to boost administrative efficiency, enhance denationalisation and speed up privatisation of the banking sector and insurance companies. "Slovenia made remarkable progress in 2001 on its path to the EU, but still has to deal with some issues," said chief EU negotiator Eneko Landaburu following the meeting.
