Seventh Slovene Book Festival Launched
Ljubljana, 22 April - With a series of addresses focussing on the situation on the Slovene book market, where subsidies for publishing are constantly falling, a Slovene book festival was launched on Monday at Congress Square in the centre of Ljubljana, where some 40 publishers will be selling books at discount prices until Friday. Several Slovene officials, however, pledged to make all in their power to improve the situation "because the book is the main pillar of Slovene culture and the Slovene language".
