Government Holds the Sale of NKBM

Ljubljana, 25 April - The government has consented to stop the sale of Nova Kreditna banka Maribor, Slovenia's second-largest bank, head of the Government Public Relations and Media Office Alja Brglez said after Thursday's session of the cabinet. The ministers thus agreed with the decision taken by the state commission supervising the sale of NKBM that the procedure, in which a 65-percent state share in the bank was offered for sale, should be suspended. According to Finance Minister Anton Rop, the ministry will draft a new programme by autumn, presumably one that will envisage a more gradual privatisation.
