National Council Vetoes Act on Public Sector Wages

Ljubljana, 3 May - The National Council, the upper chamber of the Slovene parliament, on Friday vetoed the act on wages in the public sector, which the National Assembly adopted after marathon negotiations with trade unions just a week ago. The National Assembly will thus have to look into the act at its next session, probably on 7 May. In order to enter into force, the act, which provides for a wage system for over 150,000 public sector employees, will have to be adopted with an absolute majority.
