Slovenia Should Assume a Firm Attitude in Talks with the EU, Minister But Says
Ljubljana, 8 May - A firm attitude is vital in membership negotiations with the European Union if Slovenia wants to get what it is entitled to, Agriculture Minister Franc But said in a debate on the national television channel. Head of the European Commission's delegation to Slovenia, Erwan Fouere of Ireland, shared the view of the Slovene minister, recalling similar experience his country had in accession talks. Fouere said the EU should admit Slovenia's characteristics, including those in agriculture, adding that the negotiations would result in a compromise rather than one or the other extreme.
