Gov't Suspends Implementation of 2002 Budget to Save Some EUR 66 Million
Ljubljana, 9 May - In a bid to curb 2002 budget expenditures by some SIT 15 billion (EUR 66.6 million), the government on Thursday backed the Finance Ministry's proposal to suspend for 25 days the implementation of the budget. The government thus stopped assuming all new contractual obligations for budget-funded goods and services, subsidies, investments, and the purchase and construction of basic assets, until the parliament adopts a supplementary budget, presumably in 25 days. New public procurement procedures have also been put on hold.
