Weekly Review of Events Involving Slovenia from 4 to 10 May

Ljubljana, 11 May - As Slovene President Milan Kucan was released from hospital after a surgical removal of a small kidney stone on Friday morning, Prime Minister Janez Drnovsek felt sick in his hotel in New York. Drnovsek, on a several-day visit to the United States, has to cancel a lecture at the Columbia University and a meeting with UN Secretary General Kofi Annan. The prime minister is already feeling better and is expected to continue his visit according to agenda. The end of the week welcomed the world congress of the International Press Institute (IPI) in Ljubljana with a number of prominent speakers from Slovenia and abroad.
