Finance Minister Sets Out to Cut Budget Spending by EUR 67 Million, Opposition Critical
Ljubljana, 13 May - Slovene Finance Minister Anton Rop, who announced budget cuts of SIT 15 billion (EUR 66.6 million) last Thursday, is to start talks on Tuesday with individual budget beneficiaries in an attempt to determine where funds could be cut. Meanwhile, the head of the opposition Social Democrats (SDS) Janez Jansa said Monday that his party would back a supplementary budget, but reminded that the opposition had warned of the overly optimistic GDP growth estimates as early as when the budget was first adopted by the government.
