Rupel Denies that U.S. Wishes to see NATO Referendum in Slovenia Prior to Invitation
Ljubljana, 13 May - Slovene Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel rejected suggestions that the U.S. wishes to see Slovenia hold a referendum on NATO membership prior to receiving an invitation to join the Alliance. "The issue of a referendum on NATO membership has not been discussed with the U.S. and I do not believe that it will be discussed," Rupel told the public radio network on Monday.
