State's Appeal to Italian Court's Decision in Favour of Minority Rejected in Rome
Rome, 14 May - An appeal by the Italian federal government and the Trieste city authorities to a decision of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia administrative court in favour of the Slovene minority has been rejected by the National Council, a federal body with jurisdiction to decide on administrative disputes. The regional court on 20 February froze the implementation of an Interior Ministry decree on monolingual IDs in four Trieste communities.
