Opposition Coalition's Call for Early Elections Rejected by All Other Parties
Ljubljana, 15 May - The call of the opposition Coalition Slovenia, comprising of the Social Democrats (SDS) and the New Slovenia (NSi), for the government to step down and thus allow for early general elections was met on Wednesday with almost unanimous rejection by the remaining parliamentary parties. The two largest opposition parties had voiced their call on Tuesday, saying that early elections would be in Slovenia's best interest given what they assessed was the current financial crisis.
