Slovenia's Place Names to be Removed from Signposts along Carinthian Motorway
Klagenfurt, 15 May - Signposts on motorways in the Austrian province of Carinthia will not much longer bare Slovenia's place names, but will guide drivers merely to "Slowenien". This is a result of a pilot project, launched in Villach on Wednesday in an attempt to bring Carinthian motorway signposts in line with European standards, as was explained by provincial governor Joerg Haider. He denied that this had anything to do with a dispute over bilingual signposts in the province.
