Slovenia and Italy Raise Issue of Seized Art at Split Four-Nations Conference
Split, 21 May - Italian Culture Ministry Undersecretary Vittorio Sgarbi presented at a four nations conference in Croatia's Split on Tuesday the project of restoration and the exhibition of artworks taken from the Slovene coast to Italy during the Second World War, where they had been stored in wooden cases since 1970. Slovenia's Culture Minister Andreja Rihter said that it is a positive thing that the works of art hidden from the public for the last 62 years can be seen again, but stressed that Slovenia expects them to be returned to its original owners.
