Leading Candidates Reaffirm Intent to Close EU Accession Talks by End of Year
Warsaw, 22 May - Foreign ministers from ten leading EU candidate countries, among them Slovene Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel, on Wednesday reaffirmed their countries' intent to wrap up accession negotiations by the end of this year and EU become members as of 2004. The ministers, who met in Warsaw, also stressed that they expect June's EU summit in Seville to confirm this time-frame and final goal.
