Slovenia Introduces Measures to Prevent Spread of Foot-and-Mouth from South Korea

Ljubljana, 28 May - Following the outbreak of the foot-and-mouth disease in South Korea, a destination for many Slovenes who will see the 2002 Football World Cup, the Slovene Veterinary Administration (VURS) has announced that passengers coming from South Korea will be prohibited from bringing to Slovenia foodstuffs made of the meat of cloven-hoofed animals. VURS has urged all participants of the World Cup to consider the limitations, as all the foods will be seized at border crossings.
