jubljana, April 1 (STA) - According to Teodor Geršak, an expert in military and political affairs, the inclusion of Slovenia in the Partnership for Peace means that it is jointly responsible for a peaceful resolution of conflicts at all levels. Geršak predicted a turbulent decade, both in Eastern and Western Europe, remarking that, following the end of the cold war, the collective identities of the East and the West can no longer be as strong as they were when the world was separated into two blocs.***

With regards to the Partnership for Peace project, which has been offered by NATO to Central and Eastern Europe, Geršak remarked that it requires a new kind of soldier, and consequently a new army, consisting of educated, professional individuals, making use of the achievements of democratic society and acting firstly as citizens, and only secondly as armed fighters.
