Jaroslav Novak Receives Sovre Award for Translation of Fiction
Ljubljana, 5 June - Jaroslav Novak, a Slovene translator of fiction, received the 2002 Sovre Award for his translation of the novel God's Pauper by Greek writer Nikos Kazantzakis, a fictional biography of St. Francis of Assisi. By using clear and well chosen language he convincingly recreated the precision of reporting and emotional participation, the warmth of narration and poetic zeal, said the commission of the Association of Slovene Literary Translators, which conferred the award on Wednesday evening.
