Slovenia Could Close Regional Policy Chapter Sooner than Expected

Brussels, 6 June - Slovenia could close the chapter on regional policy in accession negotiations with the EU sooner than at the end of the negotiations, if the issue of Slovenia's regionalisation is delayed into the future, that is after the country becomes a member of the EU. The financial aspect of this chapter would be discussed separately at the end of the negotiations, together with the financial aspects of agriculture and budget negotiations, said Slovene State Secretary at the Economics Ministry and member of the Slovene accession negotiating team Igor Strmsnik following Thursday's talks at the Directorate General for Regional Policy at the European Commission in Brussels.
