STA Coverage on Monday, 10 June

Ljubljana, 10 June - The STA English service will cover the following events on Monday, 10 June:

VIENNA - To mark its 75th anniversary, Austrian bank Raiffeisen Zentralbank (RZB) is to organise a conference dealing with European integration. The conference is to be staged under the patronage of European Enlargement Commissioner Guenter Verheugen, while Austrian Chancellor Wolfgang Schuessel and Slovene Prime Minister Janez Drnovsek are due to open it at 11 AM CET.

LUXEMBOURG - A ninth conference of chief negotiators from EU candidate countries is to kick off. Slovenia will be represented by Slovenia's Europe Minister Janez Potocnik, who is also the negotiator, while the Slovene delegation is to be led by Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel. The part of the conference dedicated to Slovenia is to begin at 6 PM CET.

LJUBLJANA - The social partners - the government, trade unions and employers - are to sign an agreement on wage policy for the period from 2002 to 2004, a document initialled last Friday after lengthy talks.

LJUBLJANA - The secretary of the Shanghai city committee of the Chinese Communist Party Huang Juju is to hold meetings with Slovenia's Speaker Borut Pahor and chair of the parliamentary foreign affairs committee Jelko Kacin. On Tuesday, Huang is due to meet with Slovene Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel.

MARIBOR - A conference, to begin at 3 PM CET, is to discuss transport policy in Central Europe analysing the cases of Slovenia and Austria.

LJUBLJANA - Minister of Labour, Family and Social Affairs Vlado Dimovski is to speak about his ministry's activity at a press conference scheduled for 5 PM CET.

ROME - Slovene Agriculture Minister Franci But is to attend the four-day World Food Summit. The summit, held under the patronage of the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), is expected to focus on the progress made in fighting famine since the last such summit was held in 1996, while also preparing guidelines for the future.
