EU's Failure to Find Solution to Direct Payments Was Expected, Says Potocnik
Ljubljana, 18 June - Commenting on Monday's postponement of the delicate issue of direct payments to EU newcomers by the EU, Slovene Europe Minister Janez Potocnik labelled the solution "expected" and the only feasible one in the given circumstances. "It should be ensured, however, that the enlargement timetable goes ahead as planned so that negotiations with prepared candidates conclude by the end of 2002," Potocnik told STA on Tuesday.
