Foreign Ministry Finds over 200 NATO-Critical Articles in the First Half of the Year
Ljubljana, 26 June - The Slovene Foreign Ministry commissioned an analysis of media reporting on Slovenia's efforts to join NATO, establishing that some 1,000 articles "dealing in one way or the other" with NATO were published in the first half of the year, of which some 240 were found to be critical of NATO membership, the latest edition of the political weekly Mladina reports. The weekly claims that the ministry refused to give its journalists access to the document, although it is not classified and should be made available according to the Media Act, however has Mladina managed to get hold of it and published some of the highlights of the analysis.
