Number of Apprehended Illegal Immigrants Down 68%

Ljubljana, 27 June - The Slovene police apprehended 3,086 clandestine immigrants in the period from January through May 2002, which makes for a drop of 68 percent over the same period last year. As many as 883 of the apprehended illegal immigrants were nationals of Yugoslavia, 523 were Macedonians, 448 Turks and 240 Iraqis, according to figures released by the Slovene Police.
