Haider Demands that ORF Pulls the Plug on Slovene-Language Radio Station

Klagenfurt, 2 July - The Governor General of the Austrian province Carinthia, Joerg Haider, has sent a letter to the director of the Austrian public television and radio service (ORF), Monika Lindner, demanding the immediate termination of the Slovene-language Radio Two for apparent financial wrongdoing. The general manager of Radio Two, which broadcasts programmes for the Slovene minority, Marjan Pipp has already rejected Haider's claims, while the station shareholders have demanded that the station continues to air.
