STA Coverage on Friday, 5 July

Ljubljana, 4 July - The STA English service will cover the following events on Friday, 5 July:

LJUBLJANA/BLED - Spanish King Juan Carlos will up wrap up his three-day visit to Slovenia. Before leaving Slovenia, the king is scheduled to meet with Slovene Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel, while he is also to attend a Slovene-Spanish business conference, which will be staged by the Slovene Chamber of Commerce.

LJUBLJANA - The Dalai Lama is to hold a private meeting with Slovene President Milan Kucan. The Tibetan spiritual leader is also expected to be granted a title of honorary senator of the Ljubljana University, while he is due to hold a lecture on ethics for the new millennium at the Ljubljana Faculty of Law.

RIGA - Slovene PM Janez Drnovsek is to attend a two-day meeting of counterparts from the Vilnius group of NATO candidate countries. The conference will be the last before the November NATO summit in Prague, where invitations to join the Alliance are to be extended to the candidates. The PMs in Riga are to be addressed via satellite by U.S. President George W. Bush and British PM Tony Blair.

BASEL - A fresh round of negotiations of the successors to the former Yugoslavia on the assumption of cover for old savings deposits.

LJUBLJANA - The junior ruling coalition partner, the United List (ZLSD), is to presents it candidate for the upcoming presidential elections.
