Slovene Local Authorities Want a Greater Role in EU Membership Preparations

Brussels, 5 July - Few mechanisms have been set so far in Slovenia that would secure local communities a say in the debates on the EU, Anton Kokalj, president of the Association of Slovene Municipalities, suggested on Friday, as representatives of local and regional authorities from EU candidate countries gathered in Brussels to call for a greater role in the preparations for the Union's membership.
