LDS to Choose Minister Rop as Drnovsek's Successor on Friday; PM Might Step Down after Elections
Ljubljana, 10 July - Finance Minister Anton Rop, who is also the vice-president of the ruling Liberal Democrats (LDS), is likely to be chosen at Friday's meeting of the party council as the successor to Prime Minister Janez Drnovsek, who has announced to leave the post to run for president in autumn. As president of the LDS council Gregor Golobic told STA, "there will be no surprises" at Friday's meeting regarding Drnovsek's successor, however there have been considerations about when Drnovsek should actually resign.
