State to Pay Out SIT 3.6bn for Damage Incurred by Farmers in 2001
Ljubljana, 11 July - The commission for allocating state assistance, confirmed on Thursday that damage caused by natural phenomena to farmers in 2001 totals to SIT 9.1bn (EUR 40.2m). Drought caused the most damage, SIT 5.6bn (EUR 24.7m), while frost and hail caused an additional SIT 2.5bn (EUR 11m) and SIT 1.2bn (EUR 5.3bn) worth of damage respectively. The state thus intends to give the farmers who had suffered from natural phenomena SIT 3.6bn (EUR 15.9m) or 38.3 percent of the confirmed damage, the commission said.
