Referendum on Organisations for Disabled not to Go through despite Successful Initiative

Ljubljana, 12 July - The Council of the Slovene Organisations for the Disabled (SIOS) managed to collect over 58,000 signatures for a referendum initiative on the bill on organisations for the disabled, making the initiative a success in the 45-day deadline, SIOS president Boris Sustarsic told a press conference on Friday. However, while SIOS formally handed the signatures to Speaker of Parliament Borut Pahor, the petitioners backed off from the referendum.
